Nantou County

Nantou is the only one in Taiwan that produces tea in almost all 13 townships in the county. Due to the differences in climate and workmanship, the tea has its own characteristics and can roughly divide into two categories, hand-picked tea and mechanical tea-picked tea.

Hand picking mainly includes Yushan oolong tea, Tongding Oolong tea and Wushe Lushan Oolong tea. Yushan Oolong Tea is with clear, honey green liquor color, and has a strong mellow taste. Furthermore, does not have bitterness and astringency taste even in summer tea (normally tea made in summer time with bitterness). It is a feature of high-mountain representattive Yushan Oolong tea.

Lugu Tongding Oolong Tea

Lugu Tongding Oolong Tea, also known as Tonguing Tea, is produced in Tongding Village, Lugu Township, Nantou County. It is mainly a semi-ball shape type packaged tea made from Qingxin Oolong species. The color of the tea soup is with golden, clear and bright, and when you drink the first sip, you will feel the throat remain the flavor flavor is strong and durable.

Wushe Lushan Oolong Tea

Wushe Lushan Oolong Tea is produced in Ren’ai Township. Due to its excellent natural conditions, the tea produced is fragrant. There are many scenic spots in the town with beautiful scenery, and it is potentially high quality high-mountain tea area in Nantou County.

Cingjing Cebu Tea

Cingjing Cebu Tea is a famous high-mountain tea in Renjing Township, Nantou County. Because of its high altitude and surrounded by the clouds  and covered with fog for many years. Cingjing, known as the “Mist in wonderland”, has a pleasant climate at more than 1,600 meters high altitude, so the tea has excellent flavor and taste.  And is popular by tea lovers.

Sun Moon Lake black tea

Sun Moon Lake black tea is in Yuchi Township, Yuchi Township, Nantou County, was imported from the Assam Province of India during the Japanese Governing period. And used to be Japanese emperor’s tribution. In 1978, created its own brand of Assam Black Tea” called “Yuchi Township Black Tea Industry Culture Promotion Association”, since then still insist on hand-picked procedure to preserve its unique flavor.

As for the part of the tea area in Miaoli County, were planted black tea, green tea, oolong tea, Baozhong tea, etc  in the early years. In recent years, due to the sluggish export, started dedicate in domestic tea selling, called Miaoli Oolong tea and Pomfong tea.

Yunlin County

The tea areas of Yunlin County are in Linnei Township and Gukeng Township respectively.  Since they brought the tea sprout from Nantou Lugu in 1976, in just over 20 years, it has produced high-quality oolong tea and has the name “Genting Tea in Linnei Township”. Yunlin Pingding also means the top tea in Yunlin.
